Awards open for nominations across 8 categories recognising champions of sustainable farming
Chandigarh, May 30, 2025: Known as the cradle of India’s Green Revolution, Haryana & Punjab have long been at the forefront of agricultural innovation. From transforming India into a food-secure nation to introducing high-yield farming practices, the two states have consistently offered solutions to national agricultural challenges. Now, as climate change emerges as a defining concern for the sector, a high-impact policy roundtable in Chandigarh will explore how Punjab and Haryana can once again lead the nation, this time toward climate-resilient and sustainable farming.
The Regional Policy Dialogue on Climate Change & Its Impact on Agriculture will be held on June 5, 2025, at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The event is part of the Sustainability Matters and IndiAgri national series and is being held in collaboration with Panjab University, with support from Solidaridad, FIJEEHA, and the Centre for Environment and Development Studies (CEDS).
Bringing together a diverse mix of experts, policymakers, scientists, agri-entrepreneurs, and progressive farmers, the dialogue aims to chart a forward-looking roadmap for sustainable agriculture in the region. The event follows successful editions in Delhi and Bhopal and will highlight region-specific strategies and experiences from Punjab and Haryana.
A key highlight of the event is the Sustainability Awards, which are now open for nominations. These awards honour individuals and innovations making a significant impact in sustainable agriculture. The eight award categories include water conservation, soil health, climate-resilient practices, digital excellence, agtech, community initiatives, and progressive farming. The nominations are being accepted till June 02, 2025.
“This dialogue comes at a critical time when both Haryana and Punjab are making bold moves toward sustainable agriculture,” said Dr Navneet Anand, Executive Director of Sustainability Matters. “The aim is to bring these stories to the forefront and encourage knowledge sharing that can lead to stronger policies and action on the ground.”
“Recognising and learning from the work already being done on the ground is essential,” Dr Anand added. “The awards are designed not only to honour impactful work but to highlight approaches that can be replicated and scaled. We encourage individuals and organisations across the agriculture ecosystem to nominate their efforts.”
Hosted at Panjab University, the event will feature sessions on water conservation, soil health regeneration, and digital innovation in agriculture. Professor Vinod K Choudhary, Chairperson, Department of Sociology, Panjab University, said the event reflects the university’s commitment to engaging with real-world challenges. “It is an important opportunity to connect academic insight with grassroots action, and help design pathways for sustainable farming in the region,” he noted.
The Chandigarh dialogue will not only recognise champions of sustainability but also aim to shape a shared roadmap for future-ready, climate-smart agriculture in India’s most vital farming states.
