Police Files Chargesheet in Aadil Bedi Sponsorship Fraud Case Against MTX Group

Chandigarh, May 20:

The family of international golfer Aadil Bedi has welcomed the filing of a police chargesheet in FIR No. 75 dated September 1, 2023, registered at Police Station Sector-19, Chandigarh under Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. The case was initiated on the complaint of Dr. Harinder Pal Singh Bedi, father of Aadil Bedi, alleging cheating and criminal breach of trust against MTX IT Consulting Service Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of MTX Group Inc., along with its senior officers Ankita Sinha and Manish Kumar.

According to the FIR and the police investigation report, the complainant alleged that MTX and its representatives persuaded Aadil Bedi to sign a sponsorship and branding MoU by promising substantial financial support, international training opportunities, and PGA-related benefits. It has been alleged that the company later failed to fulfil the promised payments and commitments while continuing to use Aadil Bedi as a brand ambassador and benefiting from his international visibility.

The final report filed under Section 173 Cr.P.C. before the court of Ms. Navneet Kaur, JMIC, Chandigarh, specifically names Manish Kumar and Ankita Sinha as accused persons in FIR No. 75. The investigation report states that Manish Kumar was formally arrested and later released on bail by the court, while Ankita Sinha, who was serving as an HR officer of MTX at the relevant time, has also been named for her alleged involvement in the matter. According to the police investigation, she did not join the investigation despite repeated notices.

The family reiterated its faith in the judicial process and sought a speedy and transparent trial so that the role of every individual and entity involved can be examined and accountability fixed in accordance with law.

The family further stated that the police final report also mentions that other accused persons, namely Nobal Das, Nippa Das, and Ankita Sinha, allegedly neither cooperated with the investigation nor joined the probe despite directions issued by the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court asking them to cooperate with the Chandigarh Police in the high-profile fraud case.

However, all the allegations mentioned above are based on the FIR and the police investigation report. The matter is currently sub judice, and the guilt or innocence of the accused persons will ultimately be determined by the competent court of law.
