A press conference was organized today i.e 16/11/2025 by PUNJAB BACHAO
ANDOLAN under the leadership of its President, Tejasvi Minhas at Chandigarh Press Club to address the crucial and serious issue of illegal religious conversions in Punjab by self styled ‘Pastors’ who are using tools like magic miracles, fraud & allurement to misguide innocent people.
The main speakers at the press conference were Christian Pastors & Scholars from different parts of Punjab, who extended their full support to Punjab Bachao Morcha and Tejasvi Minhas. They said it’s a much needed effort to rid the society from religious dogma, superstitions and fraud.
The Christian speakers made it clear that the ‘self styled’ Christian pastors active in the state are totally uncertified, unregulated and unaware of the basic tenets of Christianity. They said that these are basically ‘deras’ and their leaders are commercializing religion for their personal gains. They also laid a strong emphasis on the fact that Christianity has never endorsed or promoted ‘instant magical healing’ of serious diseases that’s being advertised by these deras and being used to collect huge amounts of money from sick & gullible people.
Such Self-styled “pastors” who claim magical healing powers or perform sensational rituals for fame, influence, or financial gain are damaging the public perception of Christianity by presenting a distorted version of the faith. Their actions—often rootedin personal ambition rather than genuine spiritual conviction—mislead vulnerable people and overshadow the core Christian message of humility, compassion, and integrity. These practices are not representative of Christianity and stand in stark contrast to biblically grounded teaching, which emphasizes sincere service to others rather than theatrics or self-promotion. Exposing these distortions is essential to protect communities and preserve the true witness of the Christian faith and Punjab Bachao Morcha is an essential step in that direction.
Punjab Bachao Morcha, in its press conference held at Punjab Press Club, Jalandhar on 12.11.2025 had raised the below demands:
1) INTRODUCTION OF ‘ANTI CONVERSION BILL’ IN PUNJAB
2) ACCURATE RELIGIOUS CENSUS THAT SHOWS THE FAITH THAT THE
PERSON FOLLOWS AND NOT THE ONE ON PAPER
) STOPPING ALL RESERVATION BENEFITS FOR PEOPLE CONVERTING FROM HINDUISM OR SIKHISM TO OTHER RELIGIONS THAT DON’T HAVE CASTE.
4) TO STOP USING ‘SINGH’ & ‘KAUR’ IN NAMES AND SIKHI SWAROOP AND RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS LIKE TURBAN, LONG HAIR, NIHANG BAANA ETC FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONVERTED TO OTHER RELIGIONS.
5) REMOVAL OF ALL MAGICAL CURE / MIRACLE MEDIA ONLINE AND OFFLINE.
6) INVESTIGATION INTO MEDICAL MIRACLES AND OFFENCES THAT HAVE BEEN DONE SO FAR AND STRICT PUNISHMENT FOR IT.
7) INQUIRY BY RAW & CBI INTO THE ROLE OF FOREIGN & GLOBAL AGENCIES IN FOUNDING, FUNDING & PROPAGATING SUCH CHRISTIAN DERAS AND THE HIDDEN AGENDA BEHIND THIS.
8) REMOVAL OF CHRISTIANS FROM MINORITY IN PUNJAB
9) BOYCOTT OF ALL POLITICAL LEADERS PROMOTING AND VISITING SUCH DERAS
Other than this, a cash prize of 2 lakh has been announced by Punjab Bachao Morcha to anyone who comes forward with proof of illegal conversion and other illegalities relating to the issue. The meeting today was headed by Tejasvi Minhas (President, Punjab Bachao Morcha) and other PBM members present were Adv Ravi Vinayak, Vishal Vinayak, Padamdeep
Singh and various Christian Scholars and pastors from different parts of Punjab.
