
Chandigarh and Haryana Win Senior National Kho-Kho Championship 2024-2025
Nikita from Chandigarh and Amit from Haryana Declared Best Players of the Championship
The Senior National Kho-Kho Championship, held at Punjab University, concluded on Tuesday. The event was organized by the Kho-Kho Sports Association of Chandigarh, affiliated with Kho-Kho India.
In the finals, the girls’ match featured Chandigarh versus Haryana, while the boys’ match was between Haryana and Delhi. The Chandigarh girls’ team defeated Haryana by 9 points and 1 turn, while the Haryana boys’ team triumphed over Delhi by 3 points and 1 turn to claim the championship.
In the girls’ final, Haryana won the toss and opted to defend first. The Chandigarh team scored 10 points in their inning, while Haryana managed only 1 point, resulting in a decisive victory for Chandigarh by 9 points and 1 turn. Nikita from Chandigarh was declared the Best Player of the championship.
On the other hand, in the boys’ final, Haryana won the toss and chose to attack first. Haryana scored 13 points in their inning, which Delhi could not surpass, managing only 10 points. Haryana secured the match by 3 points, and Amit from Haryana was named the Best Player of the championship.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Justice Sant Prakash, Chairman of the Punjab State Human Rights Commission. He was joined by Deepak Mahajan, President of the Kho-Kho Sports Association of Chandigarh; Paramjit Singh Rajput, General Secretary; Akhilesh Saxena, Treasurer; along with coaches and officials. The Chief Guest presented trophies and certificates to the winning teams from Chandigarh and Haryana.
Paramjit Singh Rajput, the General Secretary of the association, shared that this prestigious championship featured participation from male teams of 25 states and female teams from 20 states. He also mentioned that the championship was inaugurated by Rani Tiwari, General Secretary of the Asian Kho-Kho Federation. During the event, BJP District President Ravindra Joshi also interacted with the players to encourage them.
He added that the objective of the championship was to promote Kho-Kho at the national level while fostering team spirit and enhancing the skills of the players.
