The Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) and Karan Singh foundation successfully organized an engaging book discussion on A Statesman and a Seeker, the authorized biography of Dr. Karan Singh, one of India’s most revered public figures. Held at the Government Museum and Art Gallery,Chandigarh the event brought together intellectuals and literature enthusiasts to celebrate a life that serves as a bridge between India’s civilization heritage and its democratic present.‎‎ The proceedings commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Dr. Karan Singh , Dr. Sumita Misra, Harbans Singh, Dr. Jyotsna Singh, Madhav Kaushik, Ravi singh and Affan Yashvi symbolizing the inauguration of an evening dedicated to intellectual inquiry and spiritual depth. This was followed by a warm welcome and an inaugural address by Dr. Sumita Misra, IAS, Chairperson of CLS. ‎‎Dr.Sumita Misra said: “Dr. Karan Singh is truly a living legend of independent India, a philosopher who governed, a spiritual seeker wholesale, a man who carried the Upanishads in one hand and the Constitution in the other, and never once felt the contradiction. His life is an inspiration of living with consciousness while being rooted in India’s rich civilisation heritage.”‎‎Following the opening remarks, the author Harbans Singh shared his insights into the years of close study required to produce this biography. He described the journey of documenting a life spanning nine decades—from a palace in Cannes tothe floor of Parliament and the corridors of the United Nations.‎‎Thecentral highlight of the event was an in-depth conversation featuring Dr. KaranSingh in dialogue with Aradhika Sharma.The discussion explored his multifaceted legacy as a philosopher, statesman, and seeker. The hall was full of audience and gained insight into the character of a man who served the nation with agrace that remains his defining motif.‎‎Theevent concluded with an interactive Question-and-Answer session, followed Vote of Thanks by Dr. jyotsana Singh and book signing session. Over the years, The chandigarh Literary Society has played a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant intellectual space, and this discussion proved to be a valuable contribution to that ongoing endeavor.
