25th Annual General Meeting of All India Car Dealers Association Held
INR 4 Lakh Crore Annual Car Market Business Faces Complete Neglect
Chandigarh: The 25th Annual General Meeting of the All India Car Dealers Association (AICDA) was held here today. Addressing the meeting, the National President of the Association, J.S. Neyol, said that the car market and dealership business in India is worth about INR 4 lakh crore annually, and lakhs of families earn their livelihood from this trade. Yet, the sector continues to remain completely neglected. Neyol, who is also the National Vice President of INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress), chaired the meeting and later, while addressing a press conference, highlighted the challenges and problems faced by car dealers across the country.
J.S. Neyol said that the government has not made any change in the 18% GST imposed on the purchase and sale of old cars, which is unjust. He demanded that the GST should be reduced to 5%, which would greatly ease the operations of car dealers. Neyol also demanded the removal of the provision under which accounts are sealed in cases of third-party payments. Additionally, he appealed to car dealers to obtain GST numbers at the earliest so that their business could run smoothly. Supporting the demand for providing a suitable location to Chandigarh’s car dealers, he assured them that their concerns would be raised at the appropriate platforms.
On this occasion, the local President of the Association, Gyaneshwar Jain (Shanky), welcomed car dealers from Chandigarh as well as from Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal, urging them to obtain GST numbers so that their business could function more easily and the government could also address the sector’s challenges effectively.
Also present on the occasion were Chandigarh Car Dealers Association Senior Vice Presidents Harvinder Singh and Karanbir Singh (Tikka); Vice Presidents Tajinder Singh and Harinder Singh; General Secretary Gurjeet Singh; Joint Secretary Sunny Singh; Vice President from Kharar Ravi Malhotra; and Vice President from Solan Kuldeep Singh, among others.
